Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and One Days

Believe it or not, there is nothing quite like Tasmania; the glorious Apple Isle.

Where is that you might ask? I’ll allow the question just once.

Situated approximately 240 kilometres south of mainland Australia  you will find what can only be described as a pure and natural island wonderland. Tasmania is a state of Australia, the 26th largest island in the world and has a population of just over 500,000 people. A visit to this idyllic corner of the globe will see you lost in lush national park, fact to face with the iconic Tasmanian Devil and gob-smacked by the confrontational yet magnificent Museum of Modern Art (MONA) owned by a world- renowned gambler and run year by year at a loss.

As someone who has lived here my entire life I can see the draw of the aforementioned attractions. But, as a local, I can lead you on the path less travelled and show you this place first hand through the dreamy eyes of someone who has called this Apple Isle home for approximately eight thousand, nine hundred and one days. I can guide you down that alley way you may never have noticed or make you consider things you’ve never thought before. I am a dreamer and write the world through my own creative filter; everything more romantic; everything more fragile.

Every week I will be posting a new travel destination, accommodation review, restaurant or experience. I am a passionate Tasmanian determined to show the world the hidden treasure of this island.I want to lure you here so you can see what I see. I want you to while away minutes, hours and days in the Apple Isle.

I wish I could tell you exactly why I love this place; put my finger right on it – but I can’t. It’s a feeling in the air. It’s running into your neighbour down the street. It’s that indescribable feeling of home that overwhelms you when you step off the airplane from a foreign destination. I’m from a place where water from the tap is a luxury, where the air is clean, where the winter air kisses your porcelain cheeks and puts a sparkle behind your eyes.  I’m from a place where summer days are spent on the pristine sands of untouched coastline, where seafood is caught fresh from the sea and delivered straight to your lips, where nature wraps its arms around you like a dear and lifelong friend.

So join me on my experiences of the Apple Isle.

You won’t regret it; I promise.
